Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers became the first team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl in their home stadium on February 7.
I’ve worked as a team photographer for the Buccaneers since 2004 and this was by far the strangest season I’ve ever been a part of. The empty stadiums, new elevated shooting positions, COVID testing and the ever-present KN-95 mask fogging the viewfinder in the Florida humidity made it the most challenging as well.
Getting a front row seat to document the evolution this unbelievable team, mixed with explosive young talent and hard working veterans, is something I will always be thankful for.
The Super Bowl victory came as a result of an unprecedented level of professionalism and dedication the franchise owners, staff, players and coaches throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m still amazed the team and the NFL were able to play a season safely during the height of the pandemic.
It’s a good time to live and work in sports photography in Tampa. Let’s keep these Championships coming home to Tampa Bay in 2021.
Here are a few of my favorite frames from SBLV between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs.
