University Donor Portraits for USF

This week the University of South Florida in Tampa received a $10 million gift from retired St. Petersburg businesswoman Lynn Pippenger. The school renamed the accountancy school at USF’s Muma College of Business the “Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy.”

A couple weeks prior to the announcement I had the opportunity to make an official portrait of Ms. Pippenger (above) for the university. The portrait was distributed to local media, used on brochures about the school of accountancy and throughout university publications.

Academic and university photography assignments are usually some of the most enjoyable jobs I shoot. You always learn something new and you usually get to meet interesting and inspiring people. Ms. Pippenger was no exception. She is a humble self-made businesswoman and philanthropist who started out as an accounting clerk at Raymond James Financial. She ended up helping to transform the company and the entire finance sector through her IT innovations and leadership.

Now she’s giving her talents and treasure back to the students at USF. I felt lucky to have a chance to meet her and take part in the festivities honoring her at the university.

Here are some of the other Tampa Bay area business leaders, philanthropists and scholars who I have had the pleasure to meet and photograph for the University of South Florida Foundation.
