Lights on Tampa 2015
One of the best art events of the year is the annual Lights on Tampa celebration in Downtown Tampa. In preparation for this year’s event I was luckily enough to be selected by the wonderful people at the City of Tampa Art Programs to photograph performance artist Nick Cave and his colorful and energetic sound suits to help publicize the event.
The sound suits are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I can only imagine the visual impact of a heard of synchronized horses and dancers in sound suits parading through downtown’s Curtis Hixon Park.
For our PR shoot with Nick Cave we dodged downpours and thunderbolts to photograph the artist’s creations in some of Tampa’a iconic locations. The publicity shoots took place in Ybor City, the Straz Center for Performing Arts, The Tampa Theatre and the University of Tampa.
Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn even stopped by to meet the artists and one of their psychedelic horses at the Tampa Museum of Art.
It was definitely the most fun I have ever had during a PR photo shoot.
